The Africa Region of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) is proud to announce its incoming regional chairperson for the 2015 to 2016 term. Carol Allers will succeed chairperson Daniel Munslow, currently servicing his 24-month term.

"I am delighted that Carol accepted the nomination as incoming chair. She is a passionate and experienced communicator, who thoroughly understands the market and members' needs. She has been an invaluable asset to the IABC Africa regional board to date. I look forward to working with her over the next four years as chair and past chair for IABC," said Daniel, Principal Consultant at VMA Group, heading up the Africa practice.
Carol, who has more than 20 years' experience in internal and external communication, is recognised internationally as a crisis communication specialist. She holds the position of Issues and Crisis Communication Manager at Eskom. Carol is currently the President of the IABC Tshwane Chapter and a member of the IABC Africa regional board. She is an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) of the IABC and an Accredited Public Relations Practitioner (APR) of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA). She makes a sound contribution to the lives of impoverished children in a farming community near Stellenbosch as a founding trustee of the Klipheuwel Primary Schools Trust.
2015 conference tackles leadership
Carol will be officially introduced in her new capacity to IABC members at the region's 2015 annual conference taking place from 29-31 July at the Fairway Hotel and Spa in Johannesburg. The conference will address the increasingly important challenges of leadership communication, cross cultural communication and the shifting of the communication function to a strategic advisor role within business.
Apart from a variety of highly regarded local speakers, the conference will also host an international speaker. Jane Mitchell, Owner of JL&M Ltd in London, will facilitate a discussion on values-based leadership, critical for high performing organisations.
