Nedbank and Nu Metro ran a joint promotion utilizing Red Cherry 's tops and tails ADS UP on MNet, WOT'Z UP on e-TV and SPOT ON on radio to drive noting of the campaign and generate a database of potential new customers.
The aim of the campaign was to drive sales of both Retail Foreign Exchange from Nedbank and Troy DVD's. The prize was a trip to Greece. In order to qualify for the competition, viewers first had to purchase a Troy DVD, then collect their American Express Travellers Cheques at any Nedbank branch.
Not only did Nu Metro sell every single last Troy DVD, but Nedbank exceeded their Forex sales targets too. In fact, on the whole 2004 proved to be a phenomenal year for Nedbank Retail Foreign Exchange, evident in the 11% growth in Travelers Cheques sales in USD terms.
Once callers had phoned in and entered the competition successfully, they were asked if they would like a Nedbank representative to contact them and assist them with opening a Nedbank account, over 500 people left their names and indicated that they would like to open a new Nedbank account.
