On the Dot treated their clients to a township tour in Mfuleni on 12th July. The day commenced with an insightful and very entertaining presentation on Township Culture and insights into different groups within the township presented by Motsepe Motsegoa. Motsepe is the Field Manager for Foshizi, a Black Consumer Insights & Research company that conducts research on the black consumer market. Foshizi researches and writes on cutting-edge topics essential to black popular culture.
The tour included in-home immersion and clients visited many different household types in Mfuleni, which has a total number of 8,538 households of which the majority of households are in LSM 2-4 with an average household income of R1,732 - R2,829. On the Dot took clients into a number of homes pre-arranged with the homeowners, and by visiting the different type of households clients could get a holistic view on township consumer's living standards and cultures. Clients were also able to ask the homeowners and their families about their habits and decisions to purchase, which is invaluable information when understanding the market. To end a perfect township tour On the Dot clients were welcomed at Malibongwe Restaurant with a warm drum beat and traditional lunch.
